Press Release: Terry Copley on Commercial radio. The songs contained in the EPK are all currently on Commercial radio here in Big Bear Lake at KBHR 93.3 fm. Here is the artical from the foundation newsletter about "Heros" Im am very touched. Paved with Memories Traveling down Highway 38 in Big Bear Lake, California, a motorist noticed a woman bent down by a memorial marker identifying this particular section as 1st Lt Jared M. Landaker US Marine Corps Memorial Highway. She was carefully placing flowers in remembrance of the young man who gave his life in service while flying the medevac helicopter known as Morphine One-Two. The motorist was so deeply moved, upon his returning home he felt the impulse to express what he had just witnessed. Fortunately for us, that motorist is the Grammy ballot nominee songwriter, musician and Big Bear City resident, Terry Copley, and the song which "wrote itself" entitled "Hero's" was created that night and recorded in an astonishingly short four days at his home studio. Beginning in the third grade with the favorite instrument of elementary school music teachers, the recorder, Terry Copley's music career is commendable. He played trumpet and baritone horn for the Big Bear Lake Elementary school band, and drums a short while later for the Big Bear High School Marching Bears. When Terry joined the USAF and moved into the dormitories, he was forced to put down his drumsticks for the sanity of fellow residents but quickly replaced them with a bass guitar. Quickly proving his talent as a solid rhythmist with an ear for the groove, Terry began playing bass in club bands in 1985 and hasn't looked back since. Country, blues, jazz and even rock 'n roll – if it is a genre, Terry has played it. In 2007, Terry and his band The Catz in the Hatz were put on the Grammy award nominee list for Jazz/Fusion Album of the Year as new artists with their album Resilience. He has played alongside notable members of some of the industry's hottest groups including Yes, America, War, and even played with Johnny "Secret Agent Man" Rivers. Terry took his eclectic background and knowledge of music and wrote and recorded his newest track "Hero's" as a solo effort. Playing all of the instruments and singing all vocal tracks, Terry exhibits his talent and diverse ability. Although recorded in a home studio, the result is a professional sounding song with subtle harmonies, solid yet not overpowering rhythm and high emotion. Beginning with elegant picking and ethereal strings, "Hero's" hooks the listener from the outset. Terry's emotion is communicated beautifully even without lyrics. As he begins to sing the story of observing the unnamed woman placing flowers at the memorial marker, the imagery is powerful yet simple. There is no need for metaphors and symbols. The story is one that is commonly understood, with such high sentiment that it cannot be misinterpreted. Truly, this is a song about loss, remembrance and gratitude. Although Terry's abilities on drum and bass are exceptional, they are not the frontrunners in the song. The rhythm section stays in the background holding the pocket in a way that only an experienced musician could restrain. Instead, elegant guitar work and passionate vocals tell his tale – vocals so passionate, the subtle trill in the last line of the song mirrors the listeners own welling emotions. The song is available through Terry Copley's YouTube page, TERRYCOPLEYMUSIC1, and is also in the hands of the radio DJs at KBHR 93.3FM. If you are in the Big Bear area and wish to hear the song on the radio, call them to request it at (909) 584-5247
